Children can be a source of pleasure, pride and comfort. They are the only source of support for elderly parents in countries without a social security system. There are many reason why the couple want to have a child, some of these are: couple needs to have many children to ensure that at least a few will survive to take care of them when they are old. Where there is little opportunity for upward mobility, children give status in society, express parental creativity, and provide a sense of continuity and accomplishment otherwise missing from life.
